Originally delivered in grey with blue covered fenders, this Teardrop was repainted numerous times. Originally commissioned by Olympic bobsledder Freddy McEvoy, its first private owner was actually believed to be André David. It was later presented by princess Stella de Khapurthala at the 1938 Concours d'Elegance Femina. Reportedly, it was bought for her as a wedding gift by Paramjit Singh, a member of the Indian royal family. It was a successful showing as the car was awarded the Prix d'Excellence. Before the War, it was sold to the United States and became one of three Teardrops in the ownership of LA playboy Tommy Lee.
The New York style Teardrop eventually ended up in the collection of Lindley Locke during the early 1950s. It was stored for four decades before it resurfaced in 2001. It was eventually donated to the the Nethercutt Collection by the widow for Lindley Locke. Fully restored, chassis 90107 was seen in public for the first time at the 2005 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It was then shown at several other events before it was sold to the next private custodian. He decided to consign the car to the 2022 Gooding Amelia Island auction, where it topped the sale with a record breaking price of $13.4 million. It was the second most expensive car sold at public auction in 2022.
