Chassis:
The very last Lola T70 Mk2 Spyder built, this example was built for Team Surtees and displayed at the London Racing Car Show in January of 1966. It was used to test the Aston Martin V8 engine before being fitted with a Chevrolet engine to compete in several races in the summer of 1966 with the likes of Graham Hill, David Hobbs and John Surtees himself at the wheel. Surtees scored wins at Brands Hatch and Croft. For the 1967 season, it was sold through Carl Haas to the United States. It was offered for sale by Fred Opert Racing and then raced at the Riverside Can-Am round by George Hollinger. It was then only used in trackday events and changed hands several times before it joined the collection of Lola specialist Mac McClendon. The car was not restored to full running order until it was acquired by Marc Devis in 2007. McClendon rebuilt the car and Devis won first time out during the 2011 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. It has since been brought back to Europe and was used by Nick Padmore to set the fastest ever lap time around Goodwood.
