Chassis:
Chassis 46525 was one of only 20 Type 46s fitted with the supercharged engine by the factory. The rolling chassis was sent to Swiss coach-builder Reinboldt & Christie. Here a very elegant four-door cabriolet body fitted for Swiss Bugatti importer Bucar. The Type 46S eventually ended up in the United States where it remains to this day. The current owner acquired the car in the early 1980s in a totally disassembled state and spent the next 14 years carefully rebuilding the rare Bugatti. Most time was spent on tracking down the rare mechanical and electrical bits. Crowning piece of fully restored Type 46S is the elephant radiator ornament that was a prominent feature of the full-sized Type 41 Royale. Believed to be the only open Type 46S remaining in the world, chassis 46525 is seen here during the 2009 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.
