Chassis:
This was the third and final Lightweight C-Type built by Jaguar for the 1953 season. It was entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans by the factory team for Stirling Moss and Peter Walker. They finished second overall, four laps behind the victorious sister car. It was raced again several times later that year with Moss placing second at Monsanto and winning the class in the Tourist Trophy, partnering with Walker again on this occasion. Ecurie Ecosse then added this and the other Lightweights to its stable for the 1954 season. It was raced extensively that year, predominantly by Ninian Sanderson, who won at Zandvoort. Roy Salvadori also added a victory at Goodwood to this chassis' tally. Following several outings in the hands of Jock Lawrence during the 1955 season, it was retired from contemporary racing. Restored to its 1953 Le Mans livery, it is today part of a prominent American collection and is regularly raced at events on both sides of the Atlantic.
