Chassis:
The first of the Joest Racing built Porsche 935s, this car was raced by Rolf Stommelen in Liqui Moly colours during the second half of the 1979 DRM season. He won at the Norisring and also placed third overall in the Diepholz round. Retained by Joest Racing, chassis 009 0001 continued to be raced in the DRM in 1980 with Volkert Merl winning at the Nÿrburgring. Following the car's final contemporary outings in 1981, it was acquired by famous Swiss collector Albert Obrist. It was later owned by Bernie Ecclestone and was eventually sold to the United States. Here, it was restored to full running order by Canepa Racing. Still in American ownership, it has been recently raced at select events in North America.
