Chassis:
The third and final all new 935 J built, this car was first used by Joest Racing during the 1980 DRM Championship. At its debut outing, the Zolder round, it was driven to victory by Rolf Stommelen. Later that year, Manfred Winkelhock also added a further two victories to chassis 000 0016's tally. During the 1981 season, it was campaigned by the Vegla Racing Team, who won the Silverstone 1000 km outright with Walter Roehrl, Harald Grohs and Dieter Schornstein sharing the driving duties. The team continued to race the car, with help from Joest Racing, well into the 1982 season. The 935 J was entered at Le Mans but it was all but destroyed in practice with Grohs behind the wheel. The remains were acquired by Siggi Brunn in 1984 and over the next few years restored the car to its former glory. Boasting the livery of the Liqui Moly Team Joest car, it was briefly raced in historic events during the late 2000s and early 2010s.
