Chassis:
In P160E specification, this chassis was first raced by Clay Regazzoni in the 1973 International Trophy at Silverstone. The Swiss placed third overall, which would be the best result of this car, which was raced by Regazzoni and subsequently Jean-Pierre Beltoise during the 1973 World Championship. Beltoise could do no better than fourth in the Canadian Grand Prix. Ahead of the 1974 season, this chassis was modified to test the Weslake V12 engine. In this guise the car was tested once at Paul Ricard along with a BRM V12 engined P160 and the new P201 by Beltoise. The Weslake installation was no success and the car was eventually sold to British privateer racer John McCartney with a BRM V12. He used the car in hill climbs through to the early 1980s. The car later re-appeared in historic racing in North America, sporting Yardley colours. Still showing signs of the Weslake installation, the car was eventually restored to its original configuration by Phil Reilly in the United States. In February of 2018, P160/07 was shown at the Retromobile Show by British dealer William I'Anson and later that year Rob Hall demonstrated the car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
