Of the Flachbau cars built, 39 were built to this X85 spec, which was specific to the American market. The $60,000 opyion featured retractable but uncovered headlights. It was delivered new to the United States in 1994 and just over two decades later joined the stable of a prominent Porsche collection. He spent considerable time and effort to clean the drivetrain and bring the car to full running order. Along with his other Type 964 Porsches from his collection, he then consigned the car to the 2018 RM Sotheby's Amelia Island auction.
