Chassis:
This F1/87 was first pressed into service at the Hungarian Grand Prix where Michele Alboreto qualified it fifth on the grid. Unfortunately, an engine issue ended his charge just after the halfway point. He suffered a mechanical failure again at the Austrian Grand Prix, while running third. Alboreto raced the car again at Monza and Estoril but at each of these occasions, the F1/87's poor reliability let it down. In Portugal, he ran second to his team-mate only to be denied a one-two finish due to a transmission failure. Following its retirement from contemporary racing, chassis 100 was eventually sold and carefully stored. Not in full running order, it was consigned to the 2018 Bonhams Monaco sale.
