Chassis:
Built to special order of Hari Singh, the Maharajah of Jammu and Kashmir, this 30/98 OE Velox Tourer was completely symmetrical. This meant that the car featured levers for the rear brakes on the left- and right-hand side of the car. The car also featured a split windscreen. The Maharajah would own the car through to 1947 when it was acquired by a British serviceman who was based in what is now Pakistan with just 7,000 miles on the odometer. The 30/98 OE remained in Pakistan for another decade and was then sold to an American, who brought the car to Boston. In 1980, it was finally repatriated to the United Kingdom, where it later joined the formidable collection of watchmaker George Daniels. It was actually owned by his wife, Judy Daniels. It changed hands twice in 2006 and after a dozen years in the hands of the same custodian, it was consigned to the 2018 Bonhams Bond Street sale.
