Chassis:
Sold new to Jim Miller Racing, this SE89P was fitted with a Chevrolet V8 engine. It was raced during the 1989 IMSA GTP season by Miller himself, usually partnering with Bob Earl. Second place finishes at Watkins Glen and Tampa and a third at Del Mar were the best results. For the 1990 season, it was fielded for Miller and Wayne Taylor. The car was gradually developed with subtle changes to the aerodynamics and addition of a 6-litre V8. The best results for Miller and Teylor were a second at Lime Rock and a third at Portland. While awaiting the construction of the bespoke Intrepid RM-1 GTP car by Pratt & Miller, the team fielded the car for the opening rounds of the 1991 season with Chevrolet factory driver Tom Kendall at the helm. After starting on pole, he finished fourth at West Palm Beach and was classified second at the Miami round. Halfway through the season, Kendall substituted the Spice for the all-new Intrepid. Miller eventually parted with the car and it was restored to full running order for its new British owner ahead of the 2018 season.
