Chassis:
Through Vasek Polak, this 935 customer car was sold new to legendary LA Times publisher and great Porsche enthusiast Otis Chandler. He entered the car in the inaugural LA Times Grand Prix of Endurance at Riverside. Sharing with close friend John Thomas, Chandler started the race in 11th. They ran as high as third before an engine failure prompted an early retirement. Porsche specialist Andial then built a new three-litre, twin-turbo engine for Chandler but the car was not raced again. Chandler did demonstrate the car at Porsche club events and would keep the car in his collection until 1993. In the following couple of years, it changed hands twice more before entering long term ownership in December of 1996. After over two decades, it finally entered the market once more, having been consigned to the 2019 Gooding Amelia Island auction.
