Chassis:
Through Lola's North American distributor, this T360 was acquired new by racer Robert Young. When he picked up the car, he noted the presence of a virtually identical sister car (HU9) that was actually earmarked for a young Bobby Rahal. In the early 1990s, a subsequent owner tried to pass this car off as the ex-Rahal machine but this has since been decisively disproven. Young raced his T360 in the Canadian Players Formula Atlantic series. His charge ended early when Young drove through a chain-link fence and ended up in a lake. Once dried and repaired, HU8 was raced with great success in the SCCA Mid-West National Championship where Young won the title in 1976 and 1977.
In August of 1978, the car was sold to Ron Clausen, who continued to race the car in SCCA Mid-West events. The car changed hands again in 1982, and next owner Jerry King raced in Mid-West events through to the mid-1980s when an engine issue ended the car's contemporary racing career. It changed several times and was finally repaired in 1990 when it was first campaigned in historic events. Passing through several hands, it remained in North America until May of 2008, when it was sold to Australia. Here it remained for a decade until it was finally repatriated to England. Prepared by Chris Fox, it has since been raced in historic events from early 2017.
