Chassis:
Following its thwarted efforts at Sebring and Indy, the unique C8 was acquired by a Californian for his private museum. Still in its Indy configuration, it was then acquired by Rodney Clarke in 1974. He had the plan to restore the car back to its original configuration but sadly passed away in 1979. The work was eventually completed for Clarke's sister by specialist Martin Morris. It was fitted with Weber carburettors but still retained the Indy-specification wheelbase. From 1984, new owner John Charles raced the car extensively in historic events. The car changed hands again in 1992 with Cedric Brierly acquiring the car. Brierly had Rick Hall race the car and he showed how competitive the car was against the top running front-engined Grand Prix cars, winning many races during the mid-1990s. The next owner bought the car in 1998 and was encouraged to restore the car back to the original, American Grand Prix wheelbase. This made the car eligible for all the major events. The owner himself raced the car extensively but also had Martin Stretton campaign the car. He would go on to win his race at the 2002 Monaco Historic Grand Prix and also scored several podium finishes at the Goodwood Revival. In 2016, it was submitted to a restoration once more and in immaculate condition, it was shown on the stand of William I'Anson at the 2019 Retromobile show.
