Chassis:
Featured is one of three DB2 Prototypes entered in the 1949 24 Hours of Le Mans and the only one with the Lagonda engine. As such it is the very first of the six cylinder engined Aston Martins. It retired at Le Mans with water pump problems, but a few weeks later in the Spa 24 Hours it finished third and fourth in class. It was raced once more by the Works at Le Mans, but was forced to retire again, this time with a broken crankshaft. Fortunately this most important Aston Martin has been preserved and is still raced as can be seen above during the 2005 Monterey Historic Automobile Races.
