The first of three Lotus 77s built, this example was first raced by Mario Andretti in Brazil. He crashed out in what was a disastrous debut for the Type 77. The subsequent three races, it was campaigned by Gunnar Nilsson with an eight place finish as the best result. Upon his return to the team, Mario Andretti was back in JPS11 and used it late in the year to win the Japanese Grand Prix. while he also finished third at Zandvoort and Mosport. In 1978, this car was briefly lent to David Render for a run in the British Sprint Championship. Retained by Classic Team Lotus, it is has more recently been campaigned in several historic events like the 2018 Monaco Historic Grand Prix. (Source: Oldracingcars.com)
