Chassis:
Allocated to Elio de Angelis for the opening rounds of the 1980 season, this Type 81 was driven to second in the Brazilian Grand Prix. Later in the year, it was also raced by Mario Andretti, who could not do better than seventh at the Hockenheimring and eighth at Zandvoort. In 1981, it was raced only once but crucially, it was piloted to third at Zolder by Nigel Mansell. Restored to its original colours and specifications, it has recently returned to the track, run for the owner by Classic Team Lotus.
