Chassis:
A team car built for the 1952 season, this DB3 debuted with a 2.6-litre engine at Silverstone in the hands of George Abecassis, who finished third. It was then fitted with the development three-litre engine for Peter Collins to race in the Monaco Grand Prix, which was run for sports cars that year. He finished seventh overall in the hotly disputed event. Chassis DB3/4 continued to be raced by the factory team well into the 1953 season. The best result was a second place finish in the Shelsley Walsh hill climb in 1952. Following its contemporary racing duties, the car was rebuilt with a DB3S body to make it easier to sell. Later in its life, it was extensively raced in historic events on the British Isles before joining the Louwman Collection during the in the early 2000s. In addition to being displayed in the fantastic Louwman Museum, it has also been regularly campaigned in events like the Mille Miglia.
