Chassis:
One of the cars raced by Ivan Capelli during the 1989 season, this CG891 debuted at the French Grand Prix. Sadly an electrics failure brought a premature end to the race for the Italian while running in second. It was the start of a difficult career that featured eight more race outings with a 12th in the Belgian Grand Prix the best result. In 1990, the car was handed to a team mechanic in lieu of unpaid wages. Fully rebuilt, chassis 04 was then acquired by successful New Zealand single seater racer Ken Smith. He demonstrated the car at many events in the country during the early 1990s. It was sold on in 2004 and only used incidentally before being acquired by its third custodian from New Zealand late in 2014. As the car had been used very sparingly during the last two decades, it required a complete rebuilt. The 18-month project was carried out by local specialist Classic Revival. In 2016 and again in 2018, the car was reunited with Capelli at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival. The CG891 was also demonstrated at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed where the 50th anniversary of March Engineering was celebrated.
