Chassis:
Built in 2006, this MC12 was sold new to accomplished Swiss privateer racer Freddy Lienhard. Fielded by the Doran-Lista team, this car was entered in select races of the 2007 American Le Mans Series. The entry was controversial as sanctioning partner ACO had banned the MC12 from racing. Raced by Lienhard and his long-time co-driver Didier Theys, it qualified and then also finished third in class for the Road America round. For the season finale, the Petit Le Mans, Lienhard and Theys were joined by Maserati works driver Andrea Bertolini. They qualified on pole and were in contention for a class win until a crash late in the race ended their charge. The car was rebuilt by Doran Racing but not raced again. It was brought back to Switzerland and displayed in Lienhard's private museum. With just one owner from new, it was consigned to the 2019 RM Sotheby's London sale.
