Chassis:
Originally built with a 'Lang Heck', this chassis was converted to 917 K specifications early in 1970. it was then sold to the Swiss Zitro Racing team. It was raced by Dominique Martin during the 1970 and 1971 seasons, joined by the likes of Nino Vaccarella and Gérard Pillon. The best result came at the 1970 Montlhéry Coupe Salon where Martin finished third. Its final outing with Zitro Racing came at the 24 Hours of Le Mans where Martin and Pillon started 18th but failed to finish due to a gearbox failure. The 917 was then sold to Emerson Fittipaldi, and raced by his brother Wilson during the 1972 season. Towards the end of the season, Fittipaldi scored an outright victory at Interlagos. For reasons unknown, it had been re-numbered 917-024 before it was sold to Brazil. It remained with the Fittipaldis until 1982 when it was acquired by David Piper and Richard Attwood. They briefly raced the car before selling it on to American collector Miles Collier in 1985. Some two decades later, it was shown at Retromobile and it was subsequently sold to a Swiss Porsche enthusiast. He had the car restored to its original colours and configuration and it has since been raced at select events.
