Chassis:
The first F2004, this chassis was allocated to Michael Schumacher for the opening rounds of the 2004 Formula 1 World Championship. He scored a debut victory at the Australian Grand Prix after starting on pole and setting the fastest lap in the race. Schumacher then also won the next four Grands Prix in this car. The final outing of 234 came at the Monaco Grand Prix where Schumacher was forced to retire after a collision with Williams' Juan Pablo Montoya. Fully repaired, the fife-time Grand Prix winning car was then auctioned the following year. In the dedicated Sotheby's sale at Maranello, it changed hands for just shy of $3.2 million. This was a world record for a modern Ferrari Formula 1 car that sat until 2017 when an ex-Schumacher F2001 was sold for over twice that amount. In 2019, chassis 234 resurfaced and was demonstrated by its Argentinean owner at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of Schumacher's first World Championship win. Later that month, it was also driven by Schumacher's son Mick at Hockenheim in the build-up to the German Grand Prix.
