Chassis:
Supplied to Tom Walkinshaw Racing as a regular production road car, finished in damson red, this XJ-S was converted to full Group A specification ahead of the 1982 season. Chassis TWR 001 debuted in March at Monza where it started on the front row but was forced to retire. The car then won in a non-championship race at Zolder in April but it would take until June before Walkinshaw and Chuck Nicholson recorded the first ETCC victory. Three more victories would be scored before the end of the season. Fresh cars were built for the 1983 season with added support and TWR 001 was most like retired and first served as a spare and then as a show car. It was eventually acquired by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. They sold the car on to Jaguar enthusiast John Pearson suggesting it was only a show car. It was subsequently owned by Brian Stevens before it was acquired by Chris Scragg. At that time, it was fitted with a standard V12 engine but he had it fully restored by Mike Wilkinson, still under the impression it was a show car. At the 2012 Stoneleigh Historic Racing Car Show, the car was spotted by a former TWR employee, who was adamant that it was actually the original racing car. This prompted Scragg to give Wilkinson a closer look and evidence was indeed found that this car was TWR 001. This prompted a complete restoration to the distinct livery used by TWR during the 1982 season.
