Chassis:
Ordered new by HRH The Prince of Wales, this Virage Volante was fitted with the 6.3-litre engine and all the associated upgrades. It was, however, not built with the wide body, which was in keeping with 'Prince of Wales' specification V8 Volantes of the 1980s. Specified with a five-speed manual, the car was finished in British Racing Green. Among the other special features were a police radio, a second rear-view mirror and a leather-trimmed container in the centre armrest for the polo ponies' sugar cubes. Prince Charles used and owned the car through the 2007/2008. It was then displayed for several years at the Aston Martin headquarters in Gaydon. In 2012, it was sold to the next custodian with just under 34,000 miles on the odometer. With less than 1,000 miles added to that, the ex-Prince of Wales Virage Volante was consigned to the 2019 Bonhams Bond Street Sale.
