This is one of just two Kurtis 500 chassis known to have been fitted with a body by Allied. The fibreglass bodywork fitted was a coupe intended for the short wheelbase chassis and known as the 'Swallow'. This design was also used for a variety of other chassis like the MG TD. The car was reportedly built for the 1955 Carrera Panamericana but never actually raced in the event. In more recent years, it was readied for the retrospective event by Phil Denny. Since the early 1990s, it has been regularly campaigned by its successive owners in historic events. In 2008, it was featured in the June issue of Hot Rod magazine. Over a decade later, the unique Kurtis was consigned to the Bonhams Scottsdale Auction.
