Completed in the summer of 1966, this 206 S Dino was sold to Clemente Ravetto with Spyder bodywork. He campaigned the car at select events, finishing second in the 1967 Monte Pellegrino hill-climb. It was then sold Pietro lo Piccolo at the start of the 1968 season. He raced the car mainly in hill-climbs and with considerable success. For the 1969 season, it was fitted with cut-down bodywork that was similar to that of the factory developed 212 Montagna. It continued to be raced well into the 1970 season with the final victory coming at the Monte Pellegrino hill-climb in June of that year. Following an accident, it was retired from contemporary racing. Through Ferrari specialist Jess G. Pourrett, it was then sold to Pierre Bardinon in 1976. From his Mas du Clos collection it passed to fellow Frenchman Jacques Setton some eight years later. During the 1980s, it was restored during which the 212 Montagna body was replaced with a cut-down version of the original bodywork. Setton would retain the car for over three decades but eventually decided to consign it to headline the 2020 Bonhams Grandes Marques du Monde sale at the Grand Palais in Paris.
