Chassis:
Originally fitted with a Maserati-built 'barchetta' body, chassis 052 was the first A6 1500 off the line. It served as the development vehicle for several years before being sent to coach-builder Zagato in 1948 for a more substantial body. At this time, it boasted the latest upgrades, including the 3-carburetor intake manifold. It was the first Maserati to be bodied by Zagato. Chassis 052 was fitted with a 'Panoramica' style coupe body, which was one of the most popular Zagato bodies in the immediate post-War period. In 1951 the Zagato-bodied Maserati was sold to its first owner. Since then it changed hands several times but it never left its country of origin. The A6's most recent custodian acquired the car in 1980 and subsequently had it fully restored. In January 2010, it was offered by Bonhams in their Retromobile sale. Estimated to sell for EUR600,000 - EUR800,000 but the offers made failed to make the reserve.
