Chassis:
In 1928, this Vanderbilt Renault was acquired by pioneering collector Kirk Gibson. Along with George Waterman, he was one of the first to recognise the value of classic (racing) cars and together they scoured the land to save these early machines from demolition. From Kirk Gibson, the car passed to his son Kirk Jr. Like his father, he cherished the car but eventually handed the car over to the Simeone Foundation Automotive Foundation, who adhere to many of the same principles as pioneers Gibson and Waterman had back in the 1920s and 1930s. Still in full running condition, it was shown along with three other surviving cars of this type at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
