Chassis:
During the 1979 season, John Paul's JLP Racing campaigned the JLP-1 935 special. It was destroyed at the end of the year and for its replacement, the team ordered a bare shell from the factory. Dubbed the JLP-2, it was built in the United States to 935 K3 specification. Finished in the team's striking light blue and yellow colours, it was raced with great success during the 1980 season. Together with Brian Redman, Paul finished third in the Silverstone 6 Hours and first in class. Later in the year, John Paul was joined by his son John Paul Jr to win the Road America 500 Miles outright. The following year, it was raced only a handful of times as the time had stepped up to the purpose-built, spaceframe JLP-3. At the start of 1982, it was sold to Marty Speer, for whom the team fielded the car in the IMSA Championship. Sharing with Terry Wolters and Charles Mendez, Speed finished an impressive third overall in the Sebring 12 Hours. The unique JLP-2 was raced into the 1984 season by a variety of drivers. Speer finally sold the car in 1988, and it was comprehensively restored by specialists Andial in 1994 and 1995. It remained in American hands until the early 2010s when it was sold to a prominent French historic racer. Prepared by Crubilé Sport, it has since been raced at major historic events like the Le Mans Classic.
