Chassis:
The second Lister to wear the BHL 1 chassis number and registered 'MER 303', this is the unique Lister Maserati. It was raced by Archie Scott Brown during the 1956 season and was then sold to privateer Ormsby Issard-Davies. He fielded the car the next couple of years for Allan Moore. The one-off sports racer was then part exchanged for another Lister and placed into storage. By the mid-1970s, it had passed to collector and historic racer John Beasley. From his stable, it was eventually acquired by American Lister enthusiast Syd Sylverman in 1993. Chassis BHL 1 was completely restored and fitted with a Crosthwaite & Gardiner built Maserati engine for historic racing. The next custodian was fellow American Chip Fudge, who campaigned the car extensively between 2007 and 2017. Through JD Classics, it was then repatriated to England and continued to be raced. Sadly the owner passed away and from his estate, it was consigned to the 2020 Bonhams Goodwood Members' Meeting sale. Ready to go, it is still fitted with the Crosthwaite & Gardiner straight six but, crucially, it comes with the original Maserati engine.
