Chassis:
Marc Surer debuted the unique A5 at the 1982 Swiss Grand Prix, which was run at the Dijon-Prenois circuit. He qualified 14th and moved up to 11th before suffering a damaged skirt. The subsequent repairs dropped him down to finish 15th. A fortnight later, it was entrusted to Mauro Baldi for his home Grand Prix at Monza. He started 24th and finished 12th and last in his sole outing with the car. Surer was back for the final round of the Championship at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. After qualifying 17th, he ended the race one place short of points in seventh. Fitted with a flat bottom, it was rebuilt as A6 chassis 1 for the 1983 season. It served mainly as a spare car, appearing at a single Grand Prix with Chico Serra retiring at Paul Ricard. For historic racing, it was built back into the ground-effect A5 configuration. Beautifully prepared by Simon Hadfield Motorsport, it is seen here at the 2016 and 2017 editions of the Historic Grand Prix Zandvoort.
