Chassis:
Around a bare shell supplied by Jaguar, this XJ-S was built up as a race car by Bob Tullius' Group 44 team. It was raced from the fall of 1976 through to the end of 1977. It was particularly successful during the 1977 season, when Tullius drove the car to five 'Category I' Trans-Am victories in ten outings. Retired after its Trans-Am driver's championship winning season, it was eventually sold on. After appearing at RM Auctions' 2007 Amelia Island sale, it joined the stable of JD Classics' Derek Hood. In the subsequent years, it made several appearances at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as well as the 2009 Amelia Concours d'Elegance where the Group 44 team's many successes were celebrated. Following JD Classics' demise in 2018, the car was sold by its successor Woodham-Mortimer.
