Chassis:
One of ten Riviera Town Broughams built by Brewster, this acquired new by Irene Mamlock Simon Schoelkopf Carman. She was a wealthy New York socialite, and specified this particular example to be fitted with a cane work finish on the rear door and gold plating on many of the trim components. While the cane work came courtesy of Brewster, the gold plating was an extra on top of the staggering base price of $19,965. She sold the car on in April of 1932 and the next custodian was James H.R. Cromwell, who was the heir to a fast dwindling fortune. He only owned the car for a year and after changing hands, it joined the collection of enthusiast G. Willard Blauvelt in the mid 1950s. The striking machine then was part of Bob McVoy's stable for three decades before he finally sold it on in 1996. The next custodians were Roger and Sissy Morrison, who had gold plated Rolls-Royce comprehensively restored by Rick's Automotive in Wellington, Kansas. With the work completed, they showed the car at the 2003 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It won its class and was awarded the J.B. Nethercutt Trophy for the most elegant closed car. After it was shown at several more events, it passed to the late John M. O'Quinn. From his estate, it has since been sold and was shown most recently at the 2018 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.
