Chassis:
Shown at the 1939 Geneva Motor Show, this is one of the very last Type 57s built. It was clothed by Gangloff with a unique Cabriolet body penned by the company's young chief designer Lucien Schlatter. It was then entrusted to works driver Jean Pierre Wimille, who used the car as a factory demonstrator. Where it survived the War is not entirely certain but it did and eventually ended up in the possession of marque expert Paul Sac in the early 1960s. The unique Gangloff Cabriolet was then acquired by Italian Gianni Mazzocchi, who was the founding editor of the Quattroruote magazine. It then spent the next five decades in the formidable Quattroruote Collection. From this collection it was sold at auction in 2016 and then changed hands again early in the summer of 2020.
