Chassis:
Painted red, this Type 35C was a works entry in the 1928 Targa Florio. It was then sold to French racer Jannine Jennky. She campaigned the car extensively, winning the 1928 Coupe de Bourgogne at Dijon in her debut with the car. The next custodians continued to race the Bugatti through to 1933. Third owner Ricardo Barnasconi carefully stored the car until it was sold to Belgian Jean Ooms in 1958. Since then, it has had just two further Belgian owners. Cherished throughout its life, chassis 4871 has survived in remarkably original condition. In more recent years, it has benefitted from a mechanical restoration at the hands of marque expert Ivan Dutton. This has allowed it to be campaigned at a wide variety of events. Having acquired the car in 1998, its third Belgian owner consigned it, along with the rest of his collection, to the 2020 Gooding & Co. Passion of a Lifetime sale.
