This high performance 'Alpine Eagle' Silver Ghost was ordered new through the Rolls-Royce distributor in Paris. It was delivered new to a Uruguayan diplomat Diego Pons, who among many things was both a wine maker and the ambassador to the Holy See in the Vatican. He had French coach-builder Million-Guiet fit the car with a striking four-seater roadster. Among the many amenities fitted were a full bar behind the front seats; something a wine maker could of course not do without. Pons would own the car through to 1935 and upon selling it, it remained in Europe. During the next decades, it was used extensively and received several cosmetic modifications. From 1984 to 2010, it was in single French ownership before it was acquired by a prominent Belgian collector. He had the car meticulously restored to its original configuration by marque specialists P&A Wood. Shortly after the work was completed, the Alpine Eagle was shown at Pebble Beach in 2019. In 2020, it was consigned to the Gooding & Co. Passion of a Lifetime sale.
