Chassis:
Through John Bolton Ford, in Maitland, Florida, this Boss 429 was delivered new to first owner John Simmons. He used the car extensively for drag racing and at some point damaged a bearing in the original engine. He continued racing the car with a 429 Cobra Jet engine, which was more common and cheaper to service. He would own the car through to 1985. It was then acquired by Charles Hill along with the original engine. He did not own the car long and in the same year, it was purchased by its long-term custodian. He sent the car to Perkins Restoration, where it was meticulously restored over a three-year period. It was then shown at three major events in 1988 and 1989, winning a national points championship at each occasion. Over the next 30 years, the car was carefully preserved and stored in a climate controlled garage. Recently recommissioned, it was then consigned to the October, 2020 Bonhams sale at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum.
