Chassis:
The very first IROC Porsche built, this example was finished in a striking light yellow livery. For the opening round, it was allocated to Peter Revson, who finished third. It was then allocated to Gordy Johncock but he failed to reach the finish in the second race. Its final IROC appearance came at Daytona, where Follmer raced the car but again failed to reach the finish. It was then sold by Roger Penske to Grey Egerton and campaigned in the IMSA GT series during the 1974 and 1975 seasons. It was raced predominantly by Elliot Forbes-Robinson, who won the the first of two races at Laguna Seca in May of 1974 and placed third in the second. The following year, he would finish third again in both GT races.
At the end of the 1975 season, the car was sold to legendary Porsche distributor Vasek Polak. It would remain in his collection, untouched, until his passing. From his estate the car was acquired by Porsche racer Tom Linton in 1998. He had marque specialist Jim Torres restore the car to its original colours and configuration. Following the completion of the work, chassis 911 460 0016 was shown at Amelia Island in 2000 and also entered in the first two Rennsport Reunions. In 2005, the IROC racer was sold to comedian Jerry Seinfeld. After he enjoyed the car for over a decade, he decided to consign the car to the 2016 Gooding Amelia Island auction, along with several other Porsches from his collection. It sold for over $2 million and has since returned to Europe for the first time since it was built back in 1973.
