Chassis:
One of just 123 DB5 Convertibles built, this example was sold new to Dora Bodycote from Nairnshire in Scotland. The car changed hands several times in the following years before it joined the long term ownership of Daniel Cork in 1979. He would keep the DB5 Convertible until his death in 2006. From Cork's estate, it was acquired by Aston Martin specialist Adrian Johnson. He then carried out a nut-and-bolt restoration of the car that had been maintained for the two previous owners by his father. During this time, the engine was slightly enlarged to 4.2 litres and the automatic gearbox was replaced by a ZF five-speed manual. Before the work was completed, the car was acquired by William Rankin, who had Johnson complete the work. It then passed to a British collector, who consigned his entire stable to Gooding's online-only, single owner European Sporting & Historic Collection sale.
