Chassis: RM5
One of the two second generation 811s built ahead of the 1981 Belgian Grand Prix, this car served mainly as a spare during the remainder of the season. At the end of the year, it was one of two cars bought by Colin Bennett and Val Musetti to compete in the British F1 Championship. Musetti managed to score a win at Oulton Park in RM5, before it was converted to Can-Am guise with a full-width bodywork. The chassis was later used to repair a subsequent March 821. By the late 1980s, two March 811s were build up for historic racing, one using the RM5 moniker. It is believed that this did not use the original chassis but instead one of the monocoques of the early cars. In more recent years, it was overhauled by Lyons Racing for the late John Campion. From his estate, it was then consigned to the 2021 RM Sotheby's Amelia Island sale. (Source: Oldracingcars.com)
