Chassis:
Retained by the works, this Eleven was one of six built to an interim spec between the Series 1 and Series 2. In March of 1958, it was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show. The car remained in Switzerland where it was road tested by the Auto Review magazine. Chassis 386 was then reputedly sold to the United States where it appeared on a Perry Como TV show. It was repatriated to England by the Chequered Flag Garage in the early 1960s and subsequently raced by Paul Folkard. Having changed hands several times more, it was eventually acquired by Lotus historian David Morgan in 1973. He would go on to own the car for over 45 years, during which he used the car extensively all around Europe. Having benefited from over twenty years of maintenance by marque experts Neil Twyman Ltd., it was consigned in immaculate condition to the June, 2021 Gooding & Co. Geared Online sale.
