Chassis:
First used at the Malaysian Grand Prix by Lewis Hamilton, this is the first MP4-25 built. After the team misread the weather conditions, Hamilton was forced to start the race in a lowly 20th. He charged through the field and eventually finished an impressive sixth. At the subsequent Chinese Grand Prix, Hamilton used this car to finish second, behind team-mate Button. It was subsequently raced to third at the Monaco Grand Prix. Hamilton then clinched a victory with this chassis at the Turkish Grand Prix, followed by Button for a McLaren one-two. The car was then allocated to Button for a further five Grands Prix. He would finish in the top five in four of these outings, finishing on the podium in the season finale at Yas Marina. Following the 2010 season, it was placed storage until it was restored to full running order by McLaren Racing in 2019. Maintained to full running order during the next two years, it was then consigned to a special RM Sotheby's auction to be held during the 2021 British Grand Prix. Slated as the first Hamilton Grand Prix winning chassis offered for public sale, it had a £3,600,000 - £5,000,000 pre-sale estimate.
