Completed ahead of the 1933 season, an 8C 2300 Monza was sold new to Portuguese entrant Frederico Abecassis. He entered the car in 1933 and 1934 for Vasco Sameiro, who raced the Monza in their native Portugal but also on the Isle of Man. According to Simon Moore in his 8C 2300 tome, Abecassis apparently bought a second Monza with several unique features in 1936. This car was red instead of white and had a distinct radiator cowling but it is unclear wether this was the same car re-painted and modified or a different 8C 2300. The red 8C 2300 Monza was then raced by Sameiro in Brazil and then by Gerardo Avelar in 1941. The same unique features of the second or repainted Abecassis car were found on an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza that was displayed at a Sao Paolo museum during the 1970s.

Like so many competition cars stranded in South America, it was eventually repatriated to Europe by legendary classic car detective Colin Crabbe. This car was discovered to be chassis 2211135 fitted with a replacement engine numbered, 2211081. The Monza did still retain its original chassis, body and most other major components. During the early 1980s, it was briefly owned by British enthusiasts Dan Margulies and Ronald Stern before being acquired by German collector Hartmut Ibing. He had Paul Grist restore it to full running order and subsequently regularly campaigned it in historic events. It changed hands several times more recently through German dealer KW 1978 and is now part of a prominent German collection of historic competition cars.
