Chassis:
A works car, this 962C was completed ahead of the 1987 season for Hans-Joachim Stuck to compete in the German Supercup championship. Although it received the factory chassis number 962-009, it was actually built on chassis 962-137. The car was also fitted with Porsche's newly developed PDK dual-clutch system, making the car racing test-bed. Stuck scored victories at the Nürburgring and Hockenheim rounds and finished most other races on the podium. It was enough for him to clinch the championship. He raced the car again in select rounds the following season before 962-009 was retired from racing.
It did continue its test-bed role and was used by the aerodynamics department in Weissach. Having served its dual purposes very well, the 962C was retired and placed into storage for over 30 years. In 2020, it was finally pulled out of storage and meticulously restored to its 1987 configuration and Shell livery. Once the work was completed, the car was reunited with Hans-Joachim Stuck. He was also presented with his original race suit, which the 70-year old still fitted and used to drive the car again for the first time in nearly 35 years, at Weissach.
