Chassis:
One of four 250 GT competition cars built in 1955, this example was shown at the 1955 Turin Motor Show by Pinin Farina. It was subsequently sold to Luigi Bertett, who was the President of the Automobile Club of Milan. Although built as a racing car, it was not actually campaigned in period. It changed hands twice before it was sold to Greece in 1964. Here it was damaged in an accident and placed in storage. It was repatriated by Rome-based American Stephen Barney in 1975. He had the car comprehensively restored by a Ferrari workshop in Modena. Shortly after the work was completed, Barney brought the rare 250 GT with him to the United States. It has subsequently been owned by several major collectors that included Hartmut Ibing, Harry Leventis, Henry Chambon and Jean Claude Bajol. In 2014, it joined the stable of French collector and dealer Jean Guikas. Not seen in public for several decades, it was consigned to RM Sotheby's in 2021 to headline the no-reserve Guikas Collection sale.
