Chassis:
Sold new to a prominent customer in Milan, this Series I Sebring is understood to have been produced in the summer of 1963. Used only lightly, it was returned to the factory before the end of the year for the owner to pick up a slightly newer model. In order to avoid additional paperwork and more importantly paying taxes on the new car, Maserati accommodated to the customer by switching chassis number. Early in 1964, it was sold to a customer in Rome, painted blue with a natural leather interior. After several more years in Italy, it was sold to the United States where it was re-painted red at some point. Acquired by the most recent custodian in 2011, it has fastidiously maintained and regularly used. Having owned the car for a decade, the East Coast based collector decided to consign the Sebring to the 2022 Gooding Geared Online Scottsdale edition sale.
