Chassis:
Chassis B1AE was the very first Bentley built in Derby after the Rolls-Royce take-over. Fitted with a Vanden Plas Tourer body, it served as the factory demonstrator. Among the people who tested and praised the car were Bentley Boy Woolf Barnato, Sir Malcolm Campbell and W.O. Bentley himself. The first 3¼-Litre was also featured in a large number of magazines. It was eventually sold to Gordan Thomas, who refinished the car from its original silver and sky-blue leather interior to the black paint it still sports today. It changed hands several times during the 1950s and 1960s, until it entered a long term ownership in 1962. From a sixty-year, single ownership and in highly original condition, the very first Derby Bentley was consigned to the 2022 Bonhams Amelia Island sale.
