Chassis:
Shown at the 1948 Paris Auto Salon, this is one of just 18 Delahaye 135s clothed with this style of Cabriolet bodywork by Figoni & Falaschi. It was known as the 'El Glaoui' Cabriolet after El Hadj Mohammed El Glaoui, the Pacha of Marrakech, who had bought one of the sister cars. This example was finished in 'Mexican Red' and was also shown at the Biarritz Concours d'Elegance. The car subsequently changed hands several time but remained in France. In 1963, it was shown at the Paris Auto Salon as part of a retrospective. In September of 1969, the rare Figoni & Falaschi Cabriolet joined the impressive collection of Pierre Héron. He would initially drive the car regularly but it was eventually parked in a barn with the rest of his collection. One of ten known survivors of the 'El Glaoui' Cabriolet, it finally resurfaced in 2022 when the barn doors were opened by French auctioneer Artcurial. Along with the rest of the 'barn find' Pierre Héron collection, it was sold at the Le Mans Classic sale. Going for nearly twice the top estimate, it found a new owner for €357,600. We understand that the car will remain in France and will be full restored.
