Chassis:
Built early in 1959, this 718 RSK was sold new to Ed Hugus. Painted in American racing colours and dubbed 'Lucybelle III', it was entered at Le Mans for Hugus and Ernie Erickson. Sadly, they failed to reach the finish due to an engine failure. Erickson also the car to second at Wilmot and suffered engines again at Sebring in 1960. The RSK was then sold to Don Ives, who raced the car with considerable success in SCCA and USAC events well into the 1961 season. It was also campaigned at Pikes Peak. Later in its life, it was extensively raced in historic events by the likes of Don Orosco and Dr Greg Johnson. During the late 2010s, it was comprehensively restored. As it had been done in period, it was finished in silver first and then repainted white to the livery used by Hugus at Le Mans. It has since been shown at select events like Pebble Beach before it was consigned to the 2022 Gooding Pebble Beach Auctions.
