Chassis:
Completed in the fall of 1988, this 962C was sold new to Bruce Leven primarily to compete in the long distance races of the IMSA GTP Championship. It debuted with a second at Del Mar in the hands of Klaus Ludwig in October of that year. Early the next year, it was fastest in the official Daytona 24 Hours test. With striking Havoline sponsorship, it would go on to finish fourth overall at Daytona and third at Sebring in 1989. It was also used for several shorter races that year with two eighth place finishes as the best results. Now in black with Havoline and Texaco livery, it started the 1990 Daytona 24 Hours from pole position. It eventually finished third overall. Its final contemporary outing came at Sebring where it started on the front row but failed to reach the finish due to an engine failure. Bruce Leven kept the 962C in his private collection and sparingly used it in historic events until his passing in 2017. From his estate, it was sold to its second owner. Boasting the 1990 livery as used at Daytona and Sebring that year, it was only used once by the next custodian, at the 2018 Monterey Motorsports Reunion. In 2022, it was consigned to the Gooding Pebble Beach Auctions.
